British born writer and photographer, Paul Lees, will be joining The Siam Junk for five night liveaboard cruises to the Similan Marine National Park in 2011 between Jan 16th to 21st, Feb 27th to Mar 4th, and Mar 6th to 11th.
Paul, the renowned author of the definitive guide ‘Dive Thailand,’ has created a special underwater photography programme tailored to suit all diving and snorkelling photographers, regardless of their experience level. Participants can choose their degree of involvement as Paul will offer everything from tips and guidance to detailed advice and critique of technique, with hands on assistance and even courses resulting in specialized certification.
This flexible approach means there is no strict timetable to adhere to, and so everyone aboard can join in the fun as they please, ensuring plenty of time for diving and practice!
For keen photographers wishing to undertake certification, Paul offers optional specialized Digital Underwater Photography courses. He is fully qualified and is recognized by BSAC, PADI and SSI diver training agencies. Prices are available on request.
Your Dream Destination
We have created the following itinerary around Paul’s personal favourite destinations and the most popular routes enjoyed by our regular guests: this underwater photography tour includes the fabulous coral formations and seascapes around one of the world’s ‘top ten’ listed diving destinations: The Mu Koh Similan Marine National Park. This glorious archipelago can be found some 90km north west of Phuket where it has greatly benefited from its designation as a protected Marine National Park back in 1982. The crystal clear surrounding waters are home to a myriad of tropical fish and resident reef inhabitants amongst splendid coral formations.
The area offers some of the best diving in the world plus close encounters on the surface with turtles and dolphins - something that is always enjoyed by snorkellers and swimmers! There are stunning palm fringed powder white beaches to explore, often experienced with no other travellers in sight, and steep winding mountain tracks to trek for those willing to exert themselves to experience the most spectacular views.
